My one year old

Wow, it feels weird to type that. Yep, she's one now, and although I haven't edited any of the pictures I took from her bday or party, I have this one from today! This is a new "prop" I bought- I'm not really into props, but I loved this little ottoman. Also, the hat was knitted by the one and only... *me* lol, it's made with a super soft alpaca/wool yarn (I'm afraid I've developed a serious yarn addiction!). If anyone wants me to bring either of these (or any other hats/accessories you've seen in my images) to your session, just let me know! (I have quite a collection of newborn sized hats) :o)

Who says

Who says you can't get "newborn" looking poses from a 2 month old? Well ok, it's pretty hard, but thanks to a patient and skilled new mama and a cooperative little guy, we pulled it off! Baby "B" did not fuss one single time the entire session. Thanks for having me in your home S family, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, there are many more to come!

This pretty little girl is the daughter of one of my dear friends (and former roommate, pre-marriage days). She's almost the same age as my Felicity so they have similar mannerisms and are so cute together!

My brother's new website is live!!

I'm very proud to announce that my brother, Aaron Dressin, has finally launched a website so that he can display his amazing work. He's a seriously TALENTED photographer, has a totally different/exciting style, and amazing ideas. He often has a vision of a cool setup and finds a way to execute it, whether it includes a washing machine or a leather jacket! I'm very proud of him, extremely admiring of him, as well as thankful to him, as he gave me the push to explore my own passion for photography years ago. Congrats little brother, YOU ROCK!!!

Real laughs [northern virginia baby photographer]

My 2 1/2 year old, Kennedy has bad case of PCS (photographer's child syndrome) and either runs from me and my camera or gives me the fake plastic smiles! I'd been wanting to spend some time working for real smiles all summer and finally did today. I got her to laugh by saying silly things so these smiles are genuine silliness and happiness! She's such an amazing little girl, I just adore her!

3 month cutie [northern virginia baby photographer]

This family was so fun and relaxed, I enjoyed hanging out with them and taking pictures of their 3 month old baby girl. What I love about this age is that they are still little babies, but are so interested in everything and have more chub than the newborns! She has 2 adorable big brothers to watch out for her! She was very sweet & agreeable and then needed a nap! Thanks M family!

14 months [northern virginia baby photographer]

I just love 1 year olds, they are still "baby" but starting to cross over into toddlerhood. This little guy was so cute cruising around the park, I had a blast (and a work out) chasing him! Thanks for hanging out with me today "E" family! Here's your sneak peek!

Newborn fix [northern virginia newborn photographer]

This little guy gave me my newborn fix, he did all of my favorite things, the little grunts and sounds, the little "O" with his mouth, so sweet! He also has the most gorgeous hair & lips! Mom & Dad (& Grandma) were so easy-going and we had alot of fun. Congrats E & C, he's perfect!

3 weeks early [norther virginia newborn photographer]

This adorable little guy arrived early and is doing wonderful. He's 9 days old and is happy as a clam, just feed him and he's content dozing off or staring around. He loved the sound of the shutter which gave me some great chances to get him staring at me! Congrats "L" family, he's just so stinkin' cute and sweet!

I'm using my 2 weeks off (not really 2 weeks b/c one of my newborns came early) to catch up on a zillion things and as I was working on an order today I was enjoying the flakiness of newborn skin, which I absolutely love. It's one of the things that just melts my heart, I love the flaky skin, the umbilical stumps, the curliness of their little bodies, the jagged nails, the tiny hairs on their skin, it's all just amazing to me and defines "new" and "miracle and "blessing". Just look at that foot!

So squishy!

So I'm burning the midnight oil tonight (and all week) working on many sessions and orders and I came across this one tonight while proofing this newborn session. I thought I'd take a quick break and post it because I just LOVE it. Love how bendy and squishy newborns are, I can just picture him in the womb like this!

Love love love

Felicity was 11 months old yesterday. I just don't know how this happened because I swear she was just born. I'm a little (ok alot) sad about this because this means that she'll be a year old next month, my last baby!

I just love and adore this baby girl, she's so sweet and so easy. She's a peanut, nothing like her sisters were, I'd be surprised if she weighs 15 lbs (we'll see at her 1 year appt) although she eats a ton! She also does not have a single tooth! The other kids started getting teeth at 6 months so this is so bizarre but I love it because I can pretend she's still a little baby all the better.

She is impossible to photograph these days as she's on the move constantly (started walking at 9 1/2 months) but I managed to get her attention for a few seconds this morning.
